The United Center seeks a well-organized and motivated individual for the position of Assistant Controller for the United Center Finance department.
We are seeking an individual with a 4-year Bachelor’s degree, including 5 to 10 years of professional experience to oversee the daily operations of the Accounting department.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, managing operational data - ensuring data integrity and accuracy, monitoring accounting functions (i.e., payroll, tax reporting and returns), and the coordination and preparation of the budget and financial forecasts. Candidate will research technical accounting issues for compliance and efficiencies and will also maintain the various computer software. Additionally, candidate will assist the Sr. Director – Accounting & Finance in the preparation of yearly budget, annual GAAP audit, producing accurate and timely financial statements, generating various financial reports, along with preparing and performing settlements of all events in the United Center.
Successful candidate will also oversee two staff personnel, the Staff Accountant and Accounting Clerk.
Ideal candidate should display strong interpersonal, communication, project management and administrative skills. Experience with creating financial statements, general ledger functions, and month-end/year-end close process a must. CMA and/or CPA preferred.
Candidate will be required to work some weekends or holidays depending on events.
Director of Box Office Operations
The United Center seeks a well-organized and motivated individual for the position of Director of Box Office Operations.
The Director of Box Office Operations is primarily responsible for managing the day to day operations of the Box Office, assisting with the oversight and management of Box Office employees, which also includes acting as liaison with Union Local 750 (Ticket Sellers).
Position is responsible for all setup, maintenance and management of all ticketing events; the implementation of ticket sale procedures for all events in a manner consistent with guest service standard; the development of training programs that supports organizational goals, and a customer service program that elevates service standards for guests and internal customers.
Successful candidate will also be responsible for establishing relationships with local and national promoters to ensure the successful functions of events, on-sale preparations and processes, inventory management, event implementation and audits as required for settlement.
We are looking for someone with high energy who is very professional, well-polished and has excellent communication skills to interact regularly with clients. Candidate should have at least a minimum of 15 years’ experience supervising and managing a box office, including all aspects of event creation and management of those events. Candidate should also have experience in budgets, accounting, record keeping, reconciliation and audit practices and procedures, and has expertise in all Ticketmaster systems, including but not limited to, TM Host, TM Archtics, TM Famuser, TM One and the EMT event management software.
Candidate must have a flexible schedule and available to work event nights, including weekends and holidays.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to sourcing and procuring team merchandise for the United Center retail locations, Madhouse Team Store, and Blackhawks Store. Candidate will be responsible for the planning and the analysis of appropriate inventory; providing weekly, monthly, and annual performance metrics, and setting distribution plan by style for targeted categories.
Additionally, candidate will partner with the Sr. Retail Buyer to execute OTB targets and assortment strategy, will manage inventory from concept to store, and will provide weekly suggestions for markdowns and seasonal promotions while maximizing growth and minimizing risk. Candidate should have a strong familiarity with retail, commercial awareness, and the ability to recognize future trends.
Bachelor’s degree in Retail Management, Marketing, Business Administration or related field preferred. A minimum of three-years of Retail Buying or Assistant Buying experience necessary. Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, proficiency in MS Excel, strong negotiation, and strong analytical skills are needed to be successful in this position. Previous apparel retail sales, retail store management, and/or merchandising experience required. Flexible schedule, including evenings and occasional weekends a must.
